NSC Industry Tours

NSC23 will offer a day of innovation tours to sports fields and facilities, community sport and leisure facilities, and children’s playgrounds and play spaces, with expert leaders and industry specialists to guide you through the day.
PLAY AND PLAY ENVIRONMENTS TOUR

The tour is designed to provide an opportunity to explore a variety of play spaces and how they are achieving community activation through play. Each of the locations visited will serve as a catalyst for discussion (and maybe even debate!). Throughout the tour there will be opportunity for commentary on play, design, and inclusion.
The sites will include:
- Rocks on Wheels - starting at Southbank with morning tea to discuss the risk around Mike Hewson’s designed playground
- Adventure Playground - travel to St Kilda to hear from staff and council on adventure playgrounds
- Pocket Park - hear from the person responsible for pocket parks and play spaces along with how they contribute to incidental play and exercise
- Olivia Estate - view one of Australia’s first play spaces which brings together technology, gaming and outdoor equipment that is inclusive of all ages in Truganina
This tour is organised in association with Play Australia and facilitated by Robyn Monro Miller. Mark Chatman (Kompan) and Kim Becherand (Touched by Olivia) will join us. Kim will provide some insight into inclusive play across the sites we visit.
COMMUNITY LEISURE FACILITIES DESIGN INNOVATION TOUR

Sustainable and functional design is the new generational thinking around community leisure centres. Exploring innovative approaches that will engage and encourage more people to be active, have fun, be safe and return more often.
The sites will include:
- Ivanhoe Grammar School Sports & Aquatic Centre – due to open mid year and designed with the latest sustainability techniques and practices
- Windy Hill - experience the latest life saving camera technology that is helping lifeguards manage pool safety better to create safer venues for the community to visit.
- Oak Park Sports & Aquatic Centre – where the Council and Belgravia Leisure have developed a carbon neutral venue as part of Councils vision for carbon neutrality by 2030
- Brimbank Aquatics and Wellness Centre, Keilor Downs

Innovation of technology, design and master planning drives future thinking, With a focus on reimagining current facilities with new technology can drive success and sustainability. Exploring the latest surface technology and approaches with the day exploring:
- Monash University, Clayton Campus
- Casey Fields, Cranbourne East
- Sport Group Factory, Dandenong South
- JJ Holland Park, Kensington
Climate Change and Sustainabilty Tour

The Sports Environment Alliance will take delegates on a tour of several iconic sport and recreation sites around Melbourne to discuss how embracing climate change for sports and leisure buildings will reduce the carbon footprint, increase sustainability of the facilities and create a considerable impact on future generations.
The sites will include:
- Victoria Racing Club, Flemington
- La Trobe Sports Stadium, Bundoora
- Melbourne Cricket Club, Richmond
